The oldest object in the world that bears traces of scrijelituri made deliberately was discovered in a cave in South Africa. Ocher fragment is as old as 100,000 years and has 23 slots, but their purpose is a mystery to scientists.
Ocher is a yellow-red clay, very rich in iron oxides. It is one of the first natural pigments used by people in the artistic process, some researchers refer to it as “pencil cave people”.
